- New Off-Road Program
Various area machines including financial institutions and retail locations have been victimized by an organized crime ring with sophisticated skimmers and cameras.
On Sunday, 7/21/2024, between the hours of 5:44am and 8:48 am, our ETMs were the target of this group. Fortunately, by recently turning on account activity alerts for all members, we were notified and were able to stop the attack quickly. However, they had 4 people working multiple ETMs and during that 3-hour timeframe managed to touch several accounts.
Starting on Sunday and continuing into yesterday, we responded to all members who contacted us and restored funds to their accounts. Our IT department continued to identify any accounts that might have been impacted and our Accounting Group worked to restore all funds to their accounts.
The police were immediately contacted and quickly sprung into action. We have extensive videos of the perpetrators themselves and of their cars and license plates.
I want to apologize to all members impacted for the stress this caused you. Please be assured that we always have your back.
We are taking the following immediate action:
1. Limiting after-hour withdrawals at our ETMs to $500 until further notice.
2. Most members use their encrypted telephone banking password at our ETMs. We are changing all telephone banking passwords on all accounts and requiring that you reset it. A separate notice will be sent to you with instructions. Members using cards at the ETMs will also be required to use this code.
We will continue to investigate the matter and take any other actions we can to prevent future attacks.
These crime rings travel through the country targeting specific areas at once, usually once or twice a year. They are thorough, organized, and sophisticated. When we all adapt to deal with them, they adapt to attack us again. It’s a constant battle. The one thing that you should know is that no member or customer of a financial institution will ever suffer a loss as a result of an activity like this.
Below are some photos of the perpetrators.
I want to thank all staff who rallied on Sunday to effectively stop this attack, immediately restore funds to member accounts, and contact each member.
Sincerely,
Pam Fleuette, CEO
