A Safety Net for Life’s Unexpected Moments

Overdraft Protection

Managing money does not always happen in perfect timing. A busy day, a missed detail, or an unexpected expense can sometimes lead to spending a little more than you planned.

Tidemark Federal Credit Union offers overdraft options that may help cover certain transactions when your checking account does not have enough available funds.

Two Ways to Help Manage Overdrafts

Tidemark offers two overdraft options for eligible checking accounts: Share Transfers and Overdraft Privilege. These options work differently, so it is important to understand how each one may apply to your account.
Share Transfers

Use funds from a linked Tidemark savings or money market account as your first line of defense.

  • Transfers occur automatically when funds are available.
  • Funds move from your designated Tidemark savings or money market account.
  • May help prevent returned items and overdraft fees.
  • There is a $5 fee per overdraft transfer.
Overdraft Privilege

A discretionary service that may help cover eligible transactions when your checking account does not have sufficient available funds.

  • Tidemark may, at its discretion, pay certain transactions instead of returning them unpaid.
  • Eligible accounts may be assigned an Overdraft Privilege limit up to $750.
  • Accounts that use Overdraft Privilege must be brought back to a positive balance within 30 days.
  • A $30 fee applies for each eligible item paid through Overdraft Privilege.
  • Tidemark will not charge a fee if the overdraft amount is $10 or less.

How Tidemark Reviews Overdraft Options

When an eligible transaction would overdraw your account, Tidemark automatically considers available options in this order. This structure helps prioritize your own available funds first before any discretionary overdraft coverage is used.
Share Transfer

If available, funds may transfer from your linked Tidemark savings or money market account.
Fee: $5 per overdraft transfer

Overdraft Privilege

If Share Transfer funds are not available and your account is eligible, Tidemark may pay certain transactions through Overdraft Privilege.
Fee: $30 per eligible item paid

Returned Transaction

If neither option is available or the transaction is not covered, the transaction may be returned unpaid.
NSF Fee: $15 per returned item
